Pedodontics-HOD Desk

Pedodontics is a special branch of dentistry. It encompasses exciting factors for us dentists to consider, for the child may have important medical disease/disorders, social problems and behavioural difficulty along with special dental needs.

Also, the intricacies of relationship between the child, dentist and parent, allaying fear, wiping tears and giving comfort and solace are some of the other factors justifying the speciality of paediatric dentistry!

The paediatric dental care comprises of not only the prevention and management of dental caries and gingivitis, but also all aspects of the tooth and developmental disturbances, traumatic injuries, oral pathologic, conditions, dental treatment of handicapped and medically compromised children etc.

A good paediatric dental care implies a wide range of knowledge and skills. We believe that education is the key to the future. For the education provided, to be of high quality we deem that it requires purpose, commitment and enthusiasm as well as a good knowledge base. The changes in dental education at both the graduate and under graduate level have emphasized the need for our education to utilise newer teaching philosophies and to be of highest quality. “Effective education may mean different and more appropriate way of telling a story, but the story may need to remain the same.”

The Bapuji dental college and hospital is regarded as the “Oxford of India” for its excellence academic reputation, experienced and dedicated faculty, outstanding clinical facilities and a world class environment that supports education. The agenda of our department is to prepare dental students and graduates to deliver quality dental services more effectively to an ever increasing large number of children with a high degree of personal and professional satisfaction. We hope to combine the best of both worlds technowizardry and biologically sound principles, such that we can impart nothing but the best to our patients. We vouch for the fact that “Dental Problems and Children Should Not Grow Together”
