The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Bapuji Dental College and Hospital is hailed as one of the best of its kind in the country today. The department has earned itself a formidable reputation for its outstanding management in the field of oral cancers, orthognathic surgeries, facial traumatology, facial reconstruction including cleft lip and palate, jaw and T.M.J. joint disorders. The hospital provides patients with a complete range of primary and specialty care services and continues to win praise in the community and around the country for its outstanding work.

In the year 1988 the postgraduate wing in Maxillofacial Surgery was begun at this famed institution and has increased its intake from two postgraduates then, to six postgraduates now. The department reflects the progress of the specialty in itself, with the most advanced craniofacial center over the years. New realms in craniofacial surgery are being addressed along with complex craniofacial problems including skull base tumors and craniofacial deformities apart from the regular maxillofacial work. It is divided into an undergraduate clinic, a post graduate clinic, a major operation theatre and in-patient wards.
