The department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology has been the back bone of many other departments of this institute in providing the much needed information of the general health of patients as well as in detecting many cancers and diseases of the head & neck region. Specimens from all the other departments are analyzed here. The students in this section are trained in the diseases that manifest in and about the oral cavity. We teach students about the clinical, radiographic, laboratory, histopathologic, and therapeutic features of these diseases as well as their etiology and natural history. Equipped with the most advanced diagnostic equipments it has helped postgraduates from different departments with their dissertation. Even though the specialty is continuously undergoing a revolution, this department has secured a significant place on the world stage.

This department like its brethren has excellent co-ordination with the clinician as every department strongly believes that "Coming together is beginning... Keeping Together is Progress... Working together is Success". This department has the responsibility of teaching I, II under graduates oral anatomy & histology- while in the III year oral pathology & microbiology is taught.
