The Department of preventive and community dentistry in one of the oldest institutions of our countrty has got the entire infrastructure that makes it one of the leading units in the country today.
Mobile dental van, Field work doctors, qualified assistants make possible the the absolutely free of charge services rendered in the rural camps.Many research projects, teachers training, CDE programs , school screening camps, visits to primary health centres andinnumerable field trips and dental treatment camps have been undertaken from the department from time to time. All of this sounds more acceptable and is feasible bacause of the well established deaprtment which also has been providing post graduate education for the last 8 years with an intake of 3 seats per year.
Audio-visual aids like television,VCR,tape recorder,Public addressing system are used routinely to impart education on oral haeth. Other than this oral heath intervention activities are also conducted in rural areas of Davangere taluk. Other than their active participation in all these programs, the post graduates are constantly trained to work at large for the benefit of the community as a part of their curriculum.
The unit also boats of a museum for patient education.In May 2006, the unit has joined hands with the WHO and ever since has been an active participant in all the educational programs and surveys.
